Some Observations and Lessons from the Healthcare Debate

Some observations and lessons from the Healthcare debate:

The size of the brand new federal bureaucracy to administer the bill is like creating four Atlantic Cities or nearly another Richmond, Va. where every citizen has a desk, computer, chair, office, retirement fund, healthcare insurance, handsome salary etc. and this is in addition to the already burgeoning cost of healthcare!!

If the Congress is convinced that we can find a $500 billion dollar 10 year savings from cleaning up fraud, abuse, misuse and bloated bureaucracy in the Medicare system alone, then stop right there, why are we not focusing on cleaning up the rest of government, before we try to grow it any larger and put more tax dollars at risk by an unwieldy and unqualified federal government!

Conservatives are accused of racism for opposing the healthcare bill. What is racist about challenging the lies the left has been selling as gospel, like it won’t increase taxes, or it is a budget deficit reduction measure, or the biggest lie of all it will reduce or hold in check your insurance premiums?

Conservatives are accused of waging class warfare. Go figure, conservatives are fighting for a level playing field where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and hard work is rewarded. The liberals on the other hand with their entitlement programs in the name of being fair are creating a permanent underclass already at 47% of the population. So we have a producing class subsidizing a welfare class that is growing at an alarming rate and is engineered by the liberals. Who will get the blame when the welfare class outstrips the ability, or willingness of the producer class to keep working hard, and foot the bill? What will the welfare class do when that day comes sooner than they think, stand in soup lines, stand in line for whatever handouts are available, wait for weeks and months for healthcare? What then?

There is a big difference between healthcare availability which all Americans enjoy now to varying degrees and healthcare coverage which all Americans are going to have to pay for in varying degrees, including the costs associated with 150,000 plus new employees in the federal bureaucracy!

All Americans should be paying something into the federal till no matter how small, even if they are on a welfare program. Otherwise, it will not be long before the welfare class that has no vested interest in the system by way of taxes will become the abuser class. Without the threat of an increase in cost what reason is there to not abuse?

Entitlement programs are insidious vehicles that drive the ruin of a nation and the loss of the citizen’s freedoms. How, you ask? At first the recipients of the entitlements (welfare class) eventually become dependent and lose their initiative, in time the workers (producer class) who are providing the endless funding for the entitlements become disenchanted and their initiative wanes. At this point as confidence in the government declines the government increases controls and there is a resulting loss of freedoms. As funding (revenues) decline further taxes are increased and inflation ensues or budget deficits grow to temporarily stave off the increased taxes and resulting inflation. Eventually if unchecked the government devolves into tyranny. Sound familiar?

The question is, what are you going to do about it?!?

Take The Town Halls To Washington

Nationwide Tea Party Coalition - "Take The Town Halls To Washington"
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (March 5, 2010) - The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is today announcing a new project, "Take The Town Halls To Washington", which is designed to bring tea party activists to Washington, DC during the month of March to meet, question and review the positions of approximately 60 Democrat members of the House of Representatives whose vote on the pending Health Care legislation has not yet been publicly announced. Tea Party Nation is a collaborating partner in the project.
Spokesman Mark A. Skoda, who is also Chairman of The Memphis TEA Party stated, "President Obama has indicated his willingness to ignore the people and force his bill through Congress using whatever means necessary. Our objective is to bring thousands of constituents to DC to meet with their representatives, capture their comments and produce a review of those positions on a daily basis. We believe that time is of the essence and the people need to understand where these representatives stand before any vote is taken."
Organizer, Michael Patrick Leahy further stated, "After more than a year of tea party resistance to the big government efforts of the Obama Administration, it all comes down to the next 3 weeks. The Administration has made it clear. They intend to ram down the Health Care takeover through a corrupt Congress by the end of this month, in direct defiance of the clearly expressed will of the American people.”
“It is time for every tea party activist across the country to consider dropping everything he or she is doing and join us in the most important battle of our life time. We need your energy, commitment, and efforts to make this succeed. We need you to consider coming to Washington during this 3 week period, and if you can’t come to Washington, be part of this project in your local area.”
A nationwide webcast is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2010 with meetings in DC scheduled to begin the following day through March 31, 2010. Logistics are being coordinated for those coming to Washington and daily briefings and reviews are scheduled during the project. It is expected that visits will take place while Congress is in session from Monday through Friday.
The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is an informal federation of thirty local tea parties from around the country who work collaboratively on important national projects. It was the group that organized the February 27, 2009 “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” in 51 cities around the country that launched the Tea Party Movement, as well as the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, where 1 million tea party activists attended events in over 900 cities.
