IT IS TIME TO GO BACK TO WORK!  The Congress returns this week!

The Cutting of the Extraordinary Spending and the Defunding of Obamacare Still Needs Your Help!

Hi There,

You know, in 2008 George Bush had amassed a $425 Billion or so deficit, but that included $170 Billion of stimulus, remember all of those $600 checks? The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were given as the reason why, we still had a deficit.

Then along came Barack Obama and his Stimulus package in 2009, which exceeded $800 Billion.  The Stimulus, coupled with the wars and some more benefit spending gave us a whopping $1.85 Trillion deficit.  But that was supposed to be it for the extraordinary spending.  The Stimulus was forecast to turn the economy around and create jobs, keeping the unemployment rate from rising and we could then concentrate on reducing the debt.  One would be led to believe spending would return to prior levels. WRONG on all counts!

Enter 2010 and with more benefit spending we still managed to reach a $1.5 Trillion deficit level!  Surely, when the Republicans took over the House of Representatives we could count on some fiscal responsibility and restraint kicking in.  WRONG yet again!

The 2011 deficit is projected at around $1,650 Billion ($1.65 Trillion) give or take $61 Billion in “chump change” cuts.  What the heck are they spending it on?  Did I miss a Trillion dollar Stimulus bill or something, or are we just plain being swindled!?

And then while I am still pondering the 2011 continuing resolution and the $1.2 Trillion or so in mystery spending, here comes the news of the 2012 proposed budget.

So what does 2012 look like, yeah you guessed it another $1.65 Trillion in deficit range.  All we heard about from the Republicans, last year, was a return to 2006 or 2008 spending levels.  Well, Duhh…Again what the heck are they spending it on?!  Leadership has not proposed any significant cuts, they are just nibbling around the edges.

We should be able to count on them reducing spending by $1 Trillion or more for each year, it is what they promised and we should expect no less than them honoring their promises.  The House of Representatives should do its job!!  Cut the spending to more realistic and responsible 2008 or 2006 levels and then let the Senate counter.  Look at what happened with the wimpy $61 Billion in cuts last week, the Senate comes back with a $6.5 Billion counter offer, hardly worth talking about.

Somewhere there has got to be some more Congressmen and Senators who can speak up and enunciate the problem.  Reps. Michele Bachmann, Steve King and Mike Pence along with Sens. Jim Demint, Mike Lee and Rand Paul cannot be the only responsible voices of reason in the Congress.  Many more need to step up, be heard and do the right thing.  Sure it means tough votes and holding the line but that is what is needed, that is what they were returned or elected anew, to do, last November!

Big problems require big solutions, GO BIG on reining in the deficit, GO BIG on giving our kids and grandkids a future worth looking forward to, GO BIG on restoring faith in the dollar, GO BIG on America and our exceptionalism.  If the Congress does the right thing, America will follow, business will start investing in new jobs again, Americans will start spending again and together we will turn our Country’s economy around.

We have to amass wide support in the House and Senate to pass a continuing resolution with the kind of cuts necessary to make a significant impact.  We have to pound on them hard if we want them to TAKE THE HARD VOTES.  If we are conciliatory or give them the “warm fuzzies” they will take the easy way out.

Simply ask your Representatives and Senators to honor their promises and return spending to 2006 or 2008 levels and to take steps to reform entitlement programs.  Remind those that promised last November to "KILL THE BILL" and stop Obamacare, that you view that promise as a sacred trust, it is that important, and you will accept nothing less. If funding for Obamacare is allowed to proceed in any way, shape or form, you will consider that sacred trust broken and you will not forget.  HOUND THEM RELENTLESSLY, remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease, you better believe the left is beating them up for even more concessions, look at the unions!

And do not forget to remind them to cut the $105 Billion for Obamacare that is embedded in the Continuing Resolution!  That is the hot item that Michelle Bachmann has been working on, so hard of, late.

This time in addition to calling your individual representatives and the freshman,

PLEASE include calls to Speaker Boehner's office and Majority Leader Cantor's

office. Capitol Switchboard (202)-224-3121 or (202)-225-3121 or Toll Free

(877)-762-8762, if lines are busy or slow to answer, here is a link to find their

direct lines: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/officials/

Remember it is our responsibility to make sure our Representatives do the right thing, take the hard votes, honor their promises and defend our liberty. It is up to us to make sure they do not slip down the path of least resistance, otherwise known as "the slippery slope" that we have been on for years, and has our children's futures mortgaged to the hilt!!

Thank you for all that you do to further the cause of Liberty!!

Take The Town Halls To Washington

Nationwide Tea Party Coalition - "Take The Town Halls To Washington"
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (March 5, 2010) - The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is today announcing a new project, "Take The Town Halls To Washington", which is designed to bring tea party activists to Washington, DC during the month of March to meet, question and review the positions of approximately 60 Democrat members of the House of Representatives whose vote on the pending Health Care legislation has not yet been publicly announced. Tea Party Nation is a collaborating partner in the project.
Spokesman Mark A. Skoda, who is also Chairman of The Memphis TEA Party stated, "President Obama has indicated his willingness to ignore the people and force his bill through Congress using whatever means necessary. Our objective is to bring thousands of constituents to DC to meet with their representatives, capture their comments and produce a review of those positions on a daily basis. We believe that time is of the essence and the people need to understand where these representatives stand before any vote is taken."
Organizer, Michael Patrick Leahy further stated, "After more than a year of tea party resistance to the big government efforts of the Obama Administration, it all comes down to the next 3 weeks. The Administration has made it clear. They intend to ram down the Health Care takeover through a corrupt Congress by the end of this month, in direct defiance of the clearly expressed will of the American people.”
“It is time for every tea party activist across the country to consider dropping everything he or she is doing and join us in the most important battle of our life time. We need your energy, commitment, and efforts to make this succeed. We need you to consider coming to Washington during this 3 week period, and if you can’t come to Washington, be part of this project in your local area.”
A nationwide webcast is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2010 with meetings in DC scheduled to begin the following day through March 31, 2010. Logistics are being coordinated for those coming to Washington and daily briefings and reviews are scheduled during the project. It is expected that visits will take place while Congress is in session from Monday through Friday.
The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is an informal federation of thirty local tea parties from around the country who work collaboratively on important national projects. It was the group that organized the February 27, 2009 “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” in 51 cities around the country that launched the Tea Party Movement, as well as the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, where 1 million tea party activists attended events in over 900 cities.
