Event Description

On Thursday, March 31, 2011, Tea Party Patriots will be holding a Continuing Revolution Rally at the Taft Memorial on Constitution Ave across from the Capitol Building, from noon to 1:30pm. While the Congress continues "business-as-usual" with their short term continuing resolutions, we will be there to Continue our Tea Party Revolution and demand they make the tough decisions we sent them there to make.
  • We sent them there to repeal Obama Care and they did, but if they are serious about that vote they won't let another CR pass without removing the $105 Billion in funds already appropriated to Obama Care.
  • We sent them there to cut spending and while they may tell you that they have cut $10 Billion from the budget in a 3 week period, the same day that the last CR passed in the House, an additional $72 Billion was added to deficit... in ONE DAY.
  • They pledged to us that they were going to cut $100 Billion in spending this fiscal year, so far they have failed to follow through on that pledge.
  • We sent them there to make tough decisions, to be leaders, and yet they are timidly passing mediocre spending reforms as if they are avoiding conflict with the Democrats.
  • We sent them there to be BOLD and yet their actions are showing otherwise.
This is merely a continuation of the battles fought over the last two years. Help us continue to gain ground and build on the successes we've had. They are testing the waters and waiting for us to go away. We're not going away! Will you stand on the steps of the Capitol with us next Thursday to help send that message to them loud and clear? Click here to let us know and be on the look out for more details.

Where are the speeches on video?  I'd like to hear what Mike Pence had to say - why isn't it on You Tube yet?

Washington, DC

In order to avoid a government shutdown on April 8, members from both sides of the aisle continue budget negotiations behind closed doors. Tea Party activist held a rally, named "Continuing Revolution," outside the Capitol today urging Republicans to stand their ground over proposed spending cuts, as part of the budget debate.

Updated: 7 hr., 29 min. ago

Tea Party Patriots, a grassroots organization, were protesting against members of Congress who continue to fund the government through the continuing resolutions. House members under their radar included Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), as well as other Republican leaders. Speakers at the event included: Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Mike Pence (R-IN).

"Members of Congress have abandoned their service to the people by passing continuing resolutions instead of cutting the $100 billion they pledged," said Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinators of the Tea Party Patriots in a press release to the media. "Is it lack of leadership? Is it a lack of courage? A real budget will spark a national debate on the role of government, and that's what the American people want," they added.

My ability to participate depends upon the willingness of someone in the local party to help me with the ride to/from the event since I don't have a car myself.  Thanks.

Take The Town Halls To Washington

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nationwide Tea Party Coalition - "Take The Town Halls To Washington"
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (March 5, 2010) - The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is today announcing a new project, "Take The Town Halls To Washington", which is designed to bring tea party activists to Washington, DC during the month of March to meet, question and review the positions of approximately 60 Democrat members of the House of Representatives whose vote on the pending Health Care legislation has not yet been publicly announced. Tea Party Nation is a collaborating partner in the project.
Spokesman Mark A. Skoda, who is also Chairman of The Memphis TEA Party stated, "President Obama has indicated his willingness to ignore the people and force his bill through Congress using whatever means necessary. Our objective is to bring thousands of constituents to DC to meet with their representatives, capture their comments and produce a review of those positions on a daily basis. We believe that time is of the essence and the people need to understand where these representatives stand before any vote is taken."
Organizer, Michael Patrick Leahy further stated, "After more than a year of tea party resistance to the big government efforts of the Obama Administration, it all comes down to the next 3 weeks. The Administration has made it clear. They intend to ram down the Health Care takeover through a corrupt Congress by the end of this month, in direct defiance of the clearly expressed will of the American people.”
“It is time for every tea party activist across the country to consider dropping everything he or she is doing and join us in the most important battle of our life time. We need your energy, commitment, and efforts to make this succeed. We need you to consider coming to Washington during this 3 week period, and if you can’t come to Washington, be part of this project in your local area.”
A nationwide webcast is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2010 with meetings in DC scheduled to begin the following day through March 31, 2010. Logistics are being coordinated for those coming to Washington and daily briefings and reviews are scheduled during the project. It is expected that visits will take place while Congress is in session from Monday through Friday.
The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition is an informal federation of thirty local tea parties from around the country who work collaboratively on important national projects. It was the group that organized the February 27, 2009 “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” in 51 cities around the country that launched the Tea Party Movement, as well as the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, where 1 million tea party activists attended events in over 900 cities.
